I know of a family company which has developed into a very large business so much so that it is now operating in all states of Australia, in China and the United Kingdom.
This rather large family and their respective families would be seen as being ‘well off’. They have worked hard and reaped the rewards.
This doesn’t worry me that they may become too engrossed in the material world, they keep themselves well ground because they don’t lose sight of the fact that many many others are battling.
The family is involved in charity events, sponsor the wages of medical personnel in a hospital and support the initiatives of any of their employees who are doing something for the good of others.
The family-run company calls itself a family company meaning it includes their many employees.
I tell this story as I heard that the family with their families will gather all together at Easter.
They will enjoy their time together but at some stage they will discuss any charities that they can support during the coming year.
I have a strong belief that while we have an awareness of social justice we can never be far from the Lord. Social justice keeps us going out of ourselves, which is missionary, that makes us take the emphasis off ourselves and see the Christ in others particularly those in need.
It would be nice to see more companies operating by these values and helping others.
A happy world we would all enjoy.
