Mother’s Day

Most times when writing under News and Events I am writing about some news that I would like to share.

On this occasion it is about a special occasion which we all celebrate twice.  The occasion being Mother’s Day.

We say it is often over commercialised and that can be so, but we can still celebrate it for what it means to us, what our mothers have/are to us and the beautiful gift of motherhood.

We have a school Mass when all mothers and grandmothers and carers are invited to celebrate with us and then enjoy a tour of the school followed by morning tea.

Some of the children’s songs are so meaningful and the addition of slides showing students with their mums is a very special and even emotional time.

Then as a parish we have a special Mass on the Saturday night and then Sunday – Mother’s Day.

Again the songs are very meaningful and poignant.  We give each of the mums a flower and a lovely card made by the school children.

This year it is a laminated heart with a poem written in it.

While we focus on mothers we don’t forget the mother of all mothers in Mary.

She also reflects the giftedness, goodness and blessings of motherhood.

This incredible moment when God and woman working together to create life.

An event certainly worth celebrating.
