This weekend, the 1st July 2018 we celebrate NATSICC, this refers to the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Catholics Council.
Each year there is a theme and this year it is – Because of her, we can!
The idea being to welcome all women and to recognise the example and inspiration of the Mother of God.
Our Mothers, Sisters, Aunties, Grandmothers and Daughters have been, and continue to be the thread which holds our families together.
They have fought for justice, reconciliation and social change.
Our Mother Mary is another strong inspirational woman in our lives, teaching us to open our hearts to God.
Women form the backbone of communities across Australia.
This is particularly true for Aboriginal and Islander Catholic Ministries. Women are at the forefront of these community driven organisations designed to meet the spiritual and physical needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Catholics.
It is time for us to celebrate and embrace the role that women play in our Ministries, our Church and our families.
The booklet that we have received from them is superb. The artwork and colours are truly something that is unique to the aboriginal culture.
The Acknowledgement Plaque is so striking in its design and colour. The plaque is made of aluminum and is 297mm x 210mm and can be assembled inside our outside.
The first order sold out very quickly and orders are being taken for the next printing. These plaques will be a very fitting way for parishes to declare their recognition of the indigenous culture in their area and the role that women play in the aboriginal communities.
