Last Sunday at the children’s Mass we had an extra liturgy which was the R.C.I.C – Rite of Christian Initiation of Children. Two of our students were seeking to become Catholics. They had been baptised in the Anglican Church previously as babies. Their parents were also all Anglicans.
Isabella Beggs and Emily Nield have been involved in the Sacramental Program in the school. All that was required of them was to express publically that they wished to continue their journey as Catholics with the support of their families.
We had a large crowd present and after the Gospel, I invited both families on to the sanctuary for this special ceremony. The girls and the parents were asked the necessary questions and commitment. This was all concluded when they joined the congregation to profess the Creed.
A wonderful ceremony and an exciting step in the faith journey of these children.
We gathered after Mass in the Mercy Centre for morning tea and to congratulate them all.
