Some important news which is also an important event for the Parish and our school was the Confirmation last Saturday evening 8th September 2018.
This was a great follow-up Sacrament to the eight students who made their 1st Holy Communion some four weeks ago.
We had Bishop Les here for the Confirmation. He had Confirmation in the morning in Kyabram, us in the evening and St Mel’s at 9.30 am on Sunday.
The preparation for the Sacrament was carried out by working in home groups and school. Separating the two Sacraments allowed the children to focus and concentrate on one Sacrament at a time.
The build-up in the school was very exciting for whatever understanding the children had of the meaning and theology of the Sacraments – they certainly knew it is something very important in their lives.
Because we only had eight children, we were able to make it more personal for the children an example of this was the laying on of hands by the Bishop, and I joined him. A lovely occasion enjoyed by all.
