Last Friday night on returning from the prison I was greeted with an amazing sight.
On turning the roundabout into Hogan Street all I could see was cars.
I knew why they were there as the people were enjoying the Parish, School Fete.
The weather conditions could not have been any better. I am sure this was one reason why so many attended.
The atmosphere in the school was electric.
The quadrangle was abuzz with so much activity with a high percentage enjoying the variety of food that was available.
I changed my mind three times before I eventually settled for lasagne and salad.
The fete, for me, was already a success.
The enjoyment on peoples’ faces, the chatting around the tables, the children enjoying the numerous rides and entertainment.
The Fete Committee who worked so so hard to make it happy must have, as well as relieved, felt so satisfied with what they have achieved.
As Parish Priest I am so grateful to them because they have achieved the dream of all parish priests and that is parish and school coming together for a happy, joyful and fun occasion.
