The Cross

The cross will become an important focal point over the next week with Holy Week and leading up to the Passion, Death and  Resurrection of Jesus.

The cross is the Christian symbol which also holds so much mystery for those who ponder upon it.

The cross with the figure of Christ is called a crucifix which is what we refer to as Catholics.

We have a cross or a crucifix in all Christian churches which is a strange symbol of one man’s love for all people.

This week we used a very rough looking cross with holes drilled in it as a very powerful symbolic action.

We processed to the cross and placed a steel rod somewhere on the cross.

We are reminded to take up our cross each day.  So we used this symbolic action as a reminder to us that to take up the cross also means the sufferings and hardships of life.

So we join with Jesus in his offering but ours also includes our brokenness, our sinfulness, but we are one with him.
