The Prison Chaplains attending either Beechworth or Dhurringile Prisons have a regular meeting in Benalla to share and support each other in their ministry.
At a recent meeting we had a guest speaker. He was Ron Jones a motivational therapist, he is in private practice and with SADAD – Shepparton Area Drug Action Committee. So he wants to work with those affected by drugs and alcohol.
Ron says this is a residential life skill program which in itself would differ from other programs.
Ron, who has come through personal experience, became a therapist to help those who can’t break the habit.
Ron had a fine young fellow who had completed the twelve week program and he now wishes to help others.
Ron has very good financial backing from people, particularly two families, who have purchased several residence, already, in Shepparton for the work.
Mons Peter Jeffrey is involved with the committee, so on our way back to Shepparton he went via the residence that have been purchased and set up for the program.
We then went to meet one of these families who are passionate to help, particularly the youth of Shepparton.
I have been most impressed with everyone and everything about this program. It will be wonderful in the future to have a program that can be suggested to anyone who doesn’t know what to do or where to go for help.
Ron is most willing to offer any information or support and can be contacted on 0499 989 741.
