This week we had a great gathering of the clergy to celebrate 115 years of priesthood.
Fr Michael Grace from Numurkah and Nathalia parishes was celebrating 50 years. Fr Brian Boyle was celebrating 40 years and Fr Joseph who is in Tallangatta and Corryong parishes was celebrating 25 years of priesthood.
Our Jubilarians Day is one of the highlights of the year for the priests. Many of our gatherings are for work, as in meetings, but also funerals. So this is a good, happy and social occasion.
We are fortunate to have both Fr Joseph and Fr Brian in our diocese. Fr Joseph is on loan from his diocese in India and Fr Brian who was an M.S.C (Missionary of the Sacred Heart): so he changed over to the diocesan priesthood from a Religious Order only six years ago.
We share the same priesthood but our ministries can be quite different.
Fr Brian referred to this in his homily during the Mass which was celebrated in Fr Michael’s parish in Numurkah.
