This week we had the Tatura Christmas Carols in Mactier Park , presented by the Lions Club.
It started with a Christmas Fair at 5.30pm, which included a free BBQ and Jumping Castle.
It included lucky dips, fairy floss, glow bands, cricket and other sports.
The evening commenced with the Tatura Primary School Band. They settled the crowd before the main show at 7pm.
I was asked to give the Christmas address with a story of the Christmas Envelope. The challenge to everyone was what will they put in the envelope?
A little irony to this; I was speaking to John Lovell at the newsagency and I mentioned that as an example that someone’s envelope maybe a donation to the costs of the dinner on Christmas Day.
He mentioned how someone just gave him an envelope a week ago with $250 in it.
How good and generous people can be?
The Sacred Heart Primary School Choir followed me and how good were they?
They really stole the show, nearly a hundred students in their school uniforms packed onto the tray of a truck as a stage.
I was amazed how many children presented themselves because it was very, very hot.
When I was on stage I was very impressed at the enormity of the crowd. The magic of Christmas and Christmas Carols and while we have these nights we will never lose the importance or the reason for Christmas.
