Well the big news this week in the parish is the arrival of the new Yamaha Clavinova piano/organ.
We have traded in our Yamaha organ to offset our costs.
This organ I purchased when I arrived in the parish 14 years ago. We rely heavily on the floppy discs for our music and the disc player was not functioning.
The new Yamaha has many more options a USB outlet and having only one keyboard means that someone who can only play a piano will be able to play this and make it sound like an organ.
It has many more functions like – strings and pipes, bagpipes, bells, many other musical entertainment sounds. And hear this in stereo through the church PA System is just superb.
The sound from these new electric pianos is so good that the pipe organ in the Cistern Chapel has been replaced with an electric piano/organ.
Our new Yamaha is only possible through the generous donations of many parishioners so we are indebted to them. Music and singing is a great way to praise God.
St Augustine says: “He who sings prays twice.”
